I already forgot.

He’s only been around for 3 days.

Our Elf on the Shelf did not get relocated the other night.

Frick and Frack came running into our room at 7:00am proclaiming they couldn’t find him.

Then they looked up to where he was the day before.

Lo and behold…

there he was.

I, of course, came up with a fabulous reason as to why he was perched in the same spot in my bedroom as the day before.

“Well, boys, the elf must really like your mom.  Maybe he’s making sure she’s being good so Santa will bring her something spiffy.”

It really didn’t go over well.

Never fear…

our elf made it to a new location today, just in time for Frick and Frack to squeal with delight when they found him.

Not only are we creating memories for the children, but also for the grownups, too.

We have many friends to commiserate with over forgetting to move the elf.

One can easily get a chuckle over the excuses we parents make up to convince our children the elf REALLY did go back to Santa for the night.

Does your family have an Elf on the Shelf?

What excuses for forgetting to move the elf have you used?

Forgetting to move “Elfis” is one of my fears during the holiday season especially since we have one almost 10-year old that is questioning things. Our excuse for the times he stayed in the same spot…he liked it so much there he decided to hang out again. I think there have been a couple of times when I woke up in the middle of the night and went downstairs to check to make sure Elfis moved. Oh the things we do…so much fun!

Ha! I want to start the Elf on the Shelf, but we have yet to do so.
I try to stay on track w/ just their Advent calendars & daily Advent lighting/prayers. Now we’re adding in the Jesse Tree.
    Maybe next year the Elf!

We don’t have one..but I’m thinking it might be a good purchase for us. I imagine, I would leave it in the same place more than once, too!

Mandy, you know I would totally forget that thing… but I LOVE the idea.

I am a little late to comment on this one – but this is our first year with the elf, and we forgot to move it too – on the very first night. Fail.
My daughter came in crying hysterically the next morning because he hadn’t moved.
We had to tell her that because it was his first day in our house, and he wasn’t even out a full day yet, so he was probably just waiting a bit longer to make his first trip to the North Pole. That reason seemed to work.
We have not forgotten since, but only because my husband set up a reminder alarm on his phone to remind him every night at 10:00 pm. lol
