Reliving the Moment

There is a park across the street from our house.

We have a beautiful view of a fountain from our front door.

It’s the very fountain in this picture:

On June 25, 1999, BP proposed to me in this park.

He set up dinner with flowers with the help of some family and friends.

Everyone hid in the bushes and waited for him to pop the question, capturing it on film and video.

It was a great moment.

So…how did we celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary?

The traditional gift is tin.

BP gave me a citronella candle in a tin bucket as we pulled out of the driveway.

“Here. You’re gonna need this,” he said.

And then he drove me around the block

to the park across the street where dinner was waiting on us.

The park where we were engaged 11 years ago.

This is our house from where we were sitting.  The boys are actually on the porch waving at us:

My mother in law set up this little table with a cake on it.  While she was decorating, the cake fell off the table onto the ground.  If you look closely, you can see the twigs, branches, pinestraw, and leaves attached to the cake.

Oh well.

My parents were parked in the lot across the street, waiting for our arrival.

We sat and reminisced about our 11 years together

while people slowly drove by

wondering what the heck was going on in the park

just like they did 11 years ago.

Great job, BP! Sounds like it was very romantic. The wedding cake was a nice touch. I love that the boys were waving from the porch. Congrats on 10 years. P and I celebrate 9 years later this month.

What a great story. We spent our 10th in Gainesville Florida, going to THE SWAMP to see the Gators play. (University of Florida) not many women would ask to go to a football game for their anniversary…..but I did! and I loved it!
